It’s a good time to be an Indiana Jones fan, with new comics on the way and this incredible revamped ride at Animal Kingdom in Orlando, replacing the much-loved Dinosaur ride with Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, which should open in 2027. Disney Tourist Blog take a closer look at the progress of the build as it continues towards the start of the next adventure for Doctor Jones.
Let’s start with a quick recap on what was shared about Tropical Americas during the Parks Panel at the 2026 D23 Expo. Namely, names. What was informally the Encanto Magical Madrigal Casita attraction became Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, an what was Indiana Jones Adventure became Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. It’s weird having an Adventure-less Indy attraction, but Myth of the Jade Serpent is an objectively good title.
Beyond that, we learned that Harrison Ford will portray Dr. Jones for the first time in a Disney Parks attraction, plus a bit more about the ride’s rich cultural inspiration, new storyline, and experience guests will have upon entering the temple and embarking on this not-Adventure.
Imagineers also shared that the project team is dedicated to authentic storytelling, working with archaeologists, anthropologists, and experts to ensure the area is accurate and showcases Maya culture and its connection to nature. Speaking of which, Disney Legend Joe Rohde separately confirmed there will be no live animals in Tropical Americas.
Most notably, Imagineers revealed that the attraction will take guests through a passageway leading directly to the Maya Underworld, which is protected by a serpentine creature: the Tsukán. Guests will encounter the Tsukán throughout Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, including a final climactic confrontation with a gigantic Audio Animatronics figure.
