Colin Trevorrow on Duel of the Fates: “What could be in Star Wars is kind of part of the joy”

Speaking at the 2026 Writers Guild Awards last weekend at the Edison Ballroom in New York, Colin Trevorrow was asked about the potential for reworking his ‘Duel of the Fates‘ version of Star Wars Episode IX (which became the Rise of Skywalker), and while pointing out that the story was specifically tailored to be the third part of the third trilogy, he did make an interesting observation regarding the nature of unmade Star Wars projects.
