With the imminent departure from the role of Lucasfilm president by Kathleen Kennedy, succeeded by Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan, it might be understandable that the status of future projects could be affected, but according to Daisy Ridley, who spoke with USA Today last month before the news of Kennedy’s departure became public knowledge, that shouldn’t affect her as she waits for more news regarding the future of Rey Skywalker on the big screen.

“It won’t affect me going forward if it were to be true, I think what’s lovely is people are excited because they want to see (the films), which is great.”

“It’s really wonderful to be part of something where people maybe don’t know as much, and I love that people want to know, but it will also be a great surprise then when the thing is done.”

Will we hear anything more about the future of the film this year? Ridley was somewhat coy.

“I don’t know about 2026. In the future sometime, yeah.”
