Imagine it’s Elstree, 1976. That roiling summer heat is unbearable and you are filming what is soon to become the most influential and beloved movie of all time. If you’re Mark Hamill, your mission isn’t just to cool off in the shade (BTW there wasn’t any) but to get your co-star Harrison Ford to read out your telephone number on screen.

Marvel Comics editor and our recent Point Five Past Lightspeed guest Jordan D. White explains.

During the recent Pizza Film School video, Hamill looked back to those days and whether or not asking for permission or forgiveness was the wiser choice, recalling some advice given to him by Harrison Ford.

“I admired him so much with that, and he said, ‘Well, you should learn Mark, don’t go ask George — just do it on camera.’”

So there’s your life lesson for the day. Get your ad-libs in because you never know, it might just go down in film history.
