Back in 1977, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker received their Medals of Yavin from Princess Leia, honouring their heroic efforts in rescuing the Princess and destroying the Death Star, giving hope a chance across the galaxy. Almost fifty years later, George Lucas gets his very own medal – in this case the French Legion Of Honor, given to him at the Élysée Palace in Paris by President Emmanuel Macron, alongside actors Jodie Foster, Sigourney Weaver, Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and French filmmaker Claude Lelouch.
Reports have Macron calling Lucas a ‘great Jedi Knight of filmmaking‘ – a better description of the great man you won’t find today.
