Spring is in the air but winter is coming to Gateshead Comic-Con with two Game of Throne actors making an appearance, Josef Altin and Ian Whyte. Josef Altin had the role of Pypar, commonly called Pyp, portraying a steward in the Night’s Watch, friend to Jon Snow and Samwell Tarty. Josef has many TV roles including Psychos, Being Human and Misfits and was in films such as the acclaimed Child 44 and Eastern Promises. Alongside Josef is actor, stuntman and professional basketball player, Ian Whyte. Since ending his basketball career at Newcastle Eagles Ian has gone on to be casted as a Predator in the movie Alien vs Predator. From there Ian went on to appear in major films such as Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, Harry Potter and Star Wars. However, his most gigantic role has to be Dongo the Doomed, the grey haired giant in The Wildling army in Game of Thrones. This wasn’t the only role Ian played in GOT, he was also cast as a White Walker, Ser Gregor Clegane and another giant, Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun. Joining the two GOT stars is legend Angus MacInnes, a Canadian born actor whose career has spanned 36 movies over four decades. Angus is most famous for his role as Jon ‘Dutch’ Vander aka rebel pilot Gold leader in Star Wars episode IV: A New Hope. However, his over credits have included Judge Dredd, Hellbound:Hellraiser II, Hellboy and most recently the popular series ‘Vikings’. All the actors are available to meet as well as to sign photo’s or memorabilia and offer advice to any budding Gateshead actors.
The Star Wars theme continues at The Fed as you can grab a photo with the Jedi Master himself, Yoda or those mischievous creatures from the 80’s, Gremlins.
