Good luck to the Running Stormtrooper

Our great buddy Jez Allinson – aka the Running Stormtrooper – is embarking on his next amazing challenge tomorrow as he takes on the London Marathon for the third time in full Stormtrooper armour.

I caught up with Jez a couple of weekends back at the second Fantha Day in Fordingbridge to discuss the run and what he’s hoping to achieve.

Jez gave an update on the run earlier this afternoon on the official Running Stormtrooper site regarding the heat that is expected tomorrow in London. Over to the man himself.

Hi everyone,

Understandably I’ve had lots of people contact me asking me to be careful tomorrow in the heat. Thank you xx.

I have received emails from both Virgin London Marathon and Guinness World Records asking people to have a good think about if they should run the London Marathon in fancy dress. I am thinking. I am thinking hard. I appreciate that my costume could be one of the worst to run in tomorrow and I am considering all options. Regardless of what happens I’m not going to push myself into a danger zone. I’ve remained alcohol free for 2 weeks, I am fully hydrated and fuelled, I am more rested than before. I am not chasing a time. I do want to stop and talk to people on the way and therefore I will drink plenty and refuel. I do want to finish this 3 year project. I’m not travelling there in the costume (like before) as I need to stay cool for as long as possible. I am taking alternative running kit. I’m so determined to look after myself that I’m half convinced I’ll not even register with the Guinness World Record guys in the morning. If I do run as the Stormtrooper it won’t be for any records this time.

I don’t want you to think me irresponsible for trying this in the heat, however I also don’t want to let anyone down. This is the last Stormtrooper Run before my big event on May 17th. Whatever decision I make in the morning or at any time during the run will be a really well considered one.

Thanks for your continued support ?

Whatever decision is made, we’re 110% behind Jez and his mission. Remember, the marathon is just the first part of the challenge as he is attempting to run 100km on 17th May.

This time, Jez is aiming to raise £6213.70, to bring his three year odyssey to a neat and tidy £25,000. So far he has raised £2514.54 and you can help boost that number by clicking here and giving however much you can afford.
