Due to a bout of shingles, Harrison Ford has had to step away from presenting at the 2025 Oscars and – if he follows advice – get plenty of rest, and in the meantime fellow Star Wars star Mark Hamill will be stepping into the breech, no doubt with anecdotes and a belt.
Hollywood icon Harrison Ford, who was previously announced to present at the 2025 Oscars this weekend, will no longer appear at the event after being diagnosed with shingles, Entertainment Weekly can exclusively report.
Ford, 82, is doing okay and is resting after the diagnosis, which he received yesterday. EW has learned that the Indiana Jones and Star Wars franchise actor dropped out of the Oscars ceremony this morning.
Per the Mayo Clinic, shingles “is a viral infection that causes a painful rash” that often appears as a single stripe of blisters caused by the varicella-zoster virus — the same virus that causes chickenpox.
Ford, who was nominated for an Oscar for his work in Witness, was announced Wednesday as one of the presenters joining the show, alongside Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Rachel Zegler, and 2025 Best Supporting Actress nominee Zoe Saldaña.
