Our Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny coverage continues as the press conference took place today, giving us even more insight into the making of the film. First off, an interview from yesterday where Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge discussed the making of the film.
To the press conference. Kathleen Kennedy discussed why James Mangold was the right director to suceed Steven Spielberg for this final adventure for Indy.
Kathleen Kennedy was asked about the ongoing WGA strike, and she was very clear to verbalise her support, as was director James Mangold.
KK: “When it comes to acknowledging the importance of writing, I think everybody up here has demonstrated that you can’t do any of this without great writing. You can’t do any of this without great writing. All of us who create anything…I am in full support and I know most people are in full support of the writers getting what they deserve.”
JM: “No movie happens without a great script, and no great script happens without writers. Writers are often – because they’re first in the process, they’re the first to be forgotten. So true in many parts of the business. I support them in their struggle for what is fair for everybody.”
Harrison Ford was on good form, discussing going shirtless (“I’ve been blessed with this body. Thanks for noticing”), his satisfaction with the de-ageing technology in the opening 1944 sequence of the film (“I think it was used very skillfully. I’m very happy with it“) and how Ford is ready to take his foot off the gas (“I need to sit down and rest a little bit“).
