Aniventure Comic Con 2026 will take place on July 11–12 at the Inter Expo Center in Sofia, Bulgaria. The annual event continues its history of hosting guests associated with Lucasfilm projects and the Star Wars franchise—previous attendees have included Anthony Daniels, Brian Muir, and Kevin J. Anderson. This year’s guest list includes actor John Rhys-Davies. Two international Star Wars costuming organizations will be present, represented by their regional outposts:

The 501st Legion (Romanian Outpost) The 501st Legion is a global volunteer organization focused on the creation and maintenance of screen-accurate costumes representing the villainous factions of the Star Wars universe. The Romanian Outpost, which has been a regular participant at the Sofia convention, conducts public appearances and charitable activities under the organization’s mission of community support.

The Rebel Legion (Carpathian Outpost) The Rebel Legion is a costuming group centered on hero characters, including Jedi, pilots, and soldiers from the Star Wars mythos. The Carpathian Outpost, founded in 2023, consists of seven active members who participate in public and charity events, frequently coordinating with the local 501st Legion outpost.

Attendees can visit the organized booth for several planned activities:

Photo Spot – Get in the spirit! Grab an authentic lightsaber, maybe even a helmet and a robe, stand in front of an awesome background and take a cool Star Wars themed photo, alone, with your friends or with our costumed characters!

Blast-A-Star-Wars-Character – The popular mock firing range game is back! In exchange for a donation for “Caps for the future”, a well-known Bulgarian charity, you get to shoot foam darts at Imperial characters. So, if you ever wanted to face Darth Vader, a Tusken Raider or Narkina Prisoners and hold them “at gun point” – this is your chance!

Lightsaber Academy – Parents, you’re welcome to bring your kids to our booth to learn basic lightsaber duel moves, under the supervision of our Jedi Knights. We’ll provide light soft foam sabers for the training sessions. Visit our booth to find out when the training sessions are scheduled.

Nenko Genov was born in Plovdiv and has been a Star Wars fan since the early 1990s, discovering the saga through worn-out bootleg VHS tapes and the occasional imported collectible in post-communist Bulgaria. During the early years of Bulgarian Star Wars fandom he was known among local fans as “Young_Jedi” and served as a librarian, hosting a humble collection of English-language Star Wars books for local fans to borrow. (Today his collection includes most of the Star Wars titles ever published and takes up his entire attic!) Nenko holds degrees in English Studies and Film & Television Arts, worked for five years in television production and short filmmaking, and has lived in Poland since 2011, where he currently works as an educator. He also runs a long-standing Bulgarian book blog, launched in 2016, and regularly takes part in workshops, conventions and panel discussions focused on literature, film, pop culture and the creative arts. Nenko is a published writer and the author of the award-winning Bulgarian “Farewell, Diary!” trilogy (“Сбогом, дневнико!”) and the steampunk fantasy novel “The Adventures of Captain Claude and the Sky Scoundrels” (“Приключенията на капитан Клод и Небесните негодяи”). Working across Bulgarian, English and Polish, he has translated and edited a wide range of projects, and since 2022 has translated all the Bulgarian editions of Star Wars comics, manga and picture books, while also consulting on Star Wars novel translations and publishing plans. In collaboration with local publishers and with approvals from Lucasfilm and Marvel, he also writes the forewords for Bulgarian editions of Star Wars comics.
