Tonight at the 73rd Annual Golden Reel Awards, former Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy shall be honoured with the MPSE Filmmaker Award, an honour given by the Motion Picture Sound Editors, an organisation that since 1953 has been dedicated to ‘improving the recognition of its members by educating the public and the film community about sound editing‘. Through her involvement in classics including the Indiana Jones and Back to the Future series, E.T, Jurassic Park and of course Star Wars, Kennedy has championed the importance of sound in film, and tonight very clearly emphasises just how important she – and sound – is to the cinematic experience.

Huge congratulations to Kathleen for this richly deserved award, and don’t forget to get your orders in for the 237th and final issue of Star Wars Insider magazine which features my interview with Kathleen – her final ever interview as Lucasfilm president -which arrives in the States on 6th May with three different covers.
