The original Chewbacca himself Peter Mayhew has sadly been forced to cancel his appearance at this weekends London Film and Comic Con due to emergency corrective surgery on his spine. Here’s all the details from the LFCC team.

We are very sad to have to inform you that Peter Mayhew AKA Chewbacca is no longer able to attend this year’s London Film and Comic Con. Peter went into hospital for corrective spinal surgery and we are very pleased that he has come through it very well and is now on the road to recovery. We can also inform you all that due to this difficult surgery Peter is now half an inch taller ???? this is totally true ???? Anyway, we are so pleased and happy for him and wish him well.

And Peter had time to post this tweet showing just how well he is doing.

And there’s more good news. Despite not being able to travel across for LFCC, Peter will be travelling over in the spring.

Peter was so looking forward to seeing all his European fans on this one of his rare trips to the UK, but he will be well by the time March event is taking place, London Comic Con Spring, and he has agreed to attend. All photo ops tickets with him from this event will be honoured for that event, or if you wish to have a refund just contact the shop after this weekend’s event. You will have until the end of August 2018 to decide which you would prefer.

Stay tuned as we will be covering the run up to London Comic Con Spring here on Fantha Tracks and best wishes to Peter as he starts the road to a full recovery.
