19th May 2019 marks the twentieth anniversary of the release of The Phantom Menace, and well over 20 since Ahmed Best nabbed the breakthrough role of Jar Jar Binks, a character led by performance that would be the cutting edge of CGI technology for its time, opening the VFX world to a treasure trove of opportunities.

As history has shown, while Phantom prospered at the box office, becoming the second highest grossing film of all time in its day, fate had other ideas for the reputation of the film and for Best. Here, he discusses his struggles with bullying and a suicidal moment.

Ahmed played Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars. He dealt with bullying and harassment from fans and insiders alike that lead to a suicidal moment. After posting about his experience recently, he was met an outpouring of support from those who were culprits in the early 2000s.
