The second season of The Mandalorian earned itself 24 Emmy nominations back at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon), and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Eight of those nominations were for The Jedi, but could we be on the cusp of Andor season 2 outdoing Din Djarin at the Emmys? With such amazing word of mouth it’s a possibility, and Variety look at those prospects and the wider picture.

“Andor” Could Become Most-Nominated “Star Wars” Series

Disney+’s “Andor” has the critical acclaim, buzz and submission strength to surpass “The Mandalorian,” which earned 24 nominations in its second season. If it does, “Andor” will become the most-nominated “Star Wars” series in Emmy history.
