While there’s no concrete news regarding a second season of Ahsoka, or indeed anything beyond what was revealed by Disney yesterday in their 2024 slate, Dave Filoni is certainly scattering seeds for future plot sprouts, and speaking with Empire in their Review Of The Year 2023 he teases a little of what he’d like to see going forward with the iconic Grand Admiral Thrawn, including a reunion with a character synonymous with the blue-skinned Chiss from the characters earliest days.

“We set up Captain Pellaeon in The Mandalorian, and that’s a character that goes with Thrawn, so I’d love to see the two of them together. His foil throughout Rebels was Hera. Pitting the two generals against one another is something that I find interesting.”

The actor behind the live action Thrawn Lars Mikkelsen also have his own tantalising thoughts on the future, and what he feels Thrawn should do.

“Straighten out all the others and tidy up the shop. I could imagine something in terms of a power play within the Empire.”

With the Imperial Remnant very much at the forefront of storytelling in the Legends era, and seen in the third season of The Mandalorian via the Shadow Council it looks set to become a prime player in the canon era, so let’s hope that Filoni, Favreau and their team have the opportunity to bring these ideas to live action fruition.
