The decline of physical media over the past decade has been truly deflating to witness. As entertainment and the way we consume it has shifted to the digital realm, where the process has moved from physically owning a film to merely renting it, this project – Home Video Saga – will shine a light on the journey of Star Wars media, from the very first Super-8 home releases through a multitude of formats to the modern day.
HOME VIDEO SAGA is a 2-hour docu-fiction telling 50 years of cinema at home, from Super 8 reels to 4K UHD Blu-ray, through the Star Wars saga.
It all started in 1982. My grandfather took me to the cinema for the first time, to a film picked at random: The Empire Strikes Back. I was eight. I was spellbound. From that first film grew a passion that never left me: reels, tapes, discs, the ritual of playing a film at home. That’s what led me here.
A handmade film: live action and 3D imagery, carried by an original score, with no artificial intelligence. Finished in HDR and immersive sound, in French and English.
It will be released as one digital edition and four physical 4K UHD editions, designed as true collector’s objects: a making-of, trailers, concept art, easter eggs, collector items, and an exclusive book by Patrice Girod and Antoine Bardet.
