If you’re a Lucasfilm fan that not only means loving the galaxy far, far away but also the rip-roaring adventures of Indiana Jones, and Indy never had a sidekick quite as awesome as Short Round, played by 1984’s breakout star Ke Huy Quan. Shorty was quickly followed by Data in director Richard Donners The Goonies for Steven Spielberg, and a star-studded career seemed a sure thing….until it wasn’t.

Years in the acting wilderness saw Ke disappear off the radar, until a late career resurgence (matched only by fellow Oscar winner and long-time friend Brendan Fraser) saw Ke win virtually every awards he possibly could, a run that culminated last night in him taking home the Oscar for best Supporting Actor in the amazing Everything Everywhere All At Once.

To celebrate, just soak up some of the absolute joy Ke felt and brought to every one of us who loved him 40 years ago, and have relished every moment of his return to the top of the cinematic tree.

And we couldn’t finish without this memorable moment.
