There’s a few of us old spacers who have very fond memories of the first Star Wars double bill. That arrived in the UK on 30th May 1982, a year ahead of the the arrival of the third and final chapter in the Star Wars original trilogy, Return of the Jedi (then still referred to as Revenge of the Jedi).

Skip ahead a generation or two and we’re a year away from Episode IX, the third chapter in the third trilogy. The day after a screening of Solo: A Star Wars Story on the 41st anniversary of the original Star Wars arriving in UK cinemas, the Prince Charles Cinema are screening another double bill, this time comprising of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

STAR WARS : THE FORCE AWAKENS + THE LAST JEDI

Directed by J.J. Abrams, Rian Johnson
Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Adam Driver
Format: Digital – Double Feature • 2 Films, 1 Ticket
2017 | 320mins | USA | rated (12A)

THE FORCE AWAKENS : Thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order. When a defector named Finn (John Boyega) crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi Knights.

THE LAST JEDI : Luke Skywalker’s peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her desire to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for supremacy of the galaxy.

Get your tickets here and keep your eyes peeled for Fantha Trackers who will be attending the screening of this double bill and Solo: A Star Wars Story the day before.
