Sad news reaches us that actor Rony Bridges has passed away. Rony was a friend of the site, someone we often saw at events and a character who was always ready and willing to sit down and share a story or two about his career and his time in the role of the First Order Admiral in The Force Awakens.

Of course, his career encompassed far more than that one role – Valhalla Rising with Mads Mikkelsen, Dear Frankie and Rebus amongst others – but in this part of the galaxy he will always be best remembered for his part in that iconic sequence in Episode VII.

MESSAGES of love and admiration have been posted on social media following the death of Glasgow actor Rony Bridges.

The performer, who had appeared in a number of roles over the past 20 years, is understood to have died on Sunday.

Mr Bridges was perhaps best known in recent years for his appearance in the Star Wars Saga.

As well as his roles in films, he was also a writer, author and playwright, as well as being involved in the Glasgow charity Star Child.

We were lucky enough to have Rony as a part of the Star Wars New Ages Panel at Capital Sci-Fi this past February along with Katy Kartwheel, Kirran Shah, Arie Decker and Jerome Blake where Rony was on great form.

Our deepest condolences to Rony’s wife Michaela Foster Marsh, his family, colleagues and many friends.
