Big Star Wars related news lands today as The Golden Girls, the much-loved 80’s sitcom which ran for seven seasons and 180 episodes from 1985 to 1992 starring Bea Arthur – best known in these parts as Ackmena from The Star Wars Holiday Special – comes to Disney Plus. Originally screened on NBC, the show was produced and distributed by Buena Vista, itself a part of Disney.

LONDON, UK. (June 10, 2021) – Disney+ today announced that all seven seasons of fan-favourite sitcom, “The Golden Girls”, will land exclusively on Star on Disney+ in the UK & Ireland on July 2nd, 2021. Audiences will be able to stream all 180 episodes of the beloved series which tells the story of four single middle-aged women who share a house in Miami Beach, Florida.

Almost 30 years after the series finale aired with record tune-in numbers, the multiple Emmy ®, Golden Globe, American Comedy, DGA and WGA Award-winning show remains an iconic classic to this day. The all-star cast of Beatrice Arthur (“Dorothy”), Rue McClanahan (“Blanche”), Betty White (“Rose”) and Estelle Getty (“Sophia”) each won a Primetime Emmy® for their performance in this funny yet poignant comedy, which highlights the importance of friendship.
