Official summary: Din Djarin returns to the hidden Mandalorian covert.

Trivia

During the training we get a couple of new Mandalorians who are mentioned as Judge (played by Jason Chu) and Instructor in the English subtitles. Considering the Covert has names that sound more like titles, it can be assumed that these two really go by those names. Judge is mentioned as such also in the end credits.

The stone crabs are new, but we saw something similar before in Rebels. There we had the Dokma on Atollon.

The Mandalorian who hands the training darts is nameless, who only appears in the subtitles as ‘Covert Mandalorian’. The End Credits does not mention him at all.

Audio description first mentions the large leathery creature with wings to be a raptor. Considering that this is also what Bo-Katan calls the creature later, it is the in-universe name for the creature.

Bo-Katan mentions having climbed the Peaks of Kyrimorut as part of her basic training. In the Legends continuity Kyrimorut was the home of Clan Skirata where many clone troopers took refuge after the Empire took over. It was located in the northern hemisphere of Mandalore, but there were no mountains mentioned to be there, just forests.

The group getting flying instructions are named the Shriek-hawk Training team. Just like Attack Of The Clones with the Bear Clan, it is named after a creature. The Shriek-hawk is a predatory bird native to the planet Mandalore. In The Clone Wars and this series (Chapters 8, 17 and this one) it appears as a sigil. The name and connections to the culture came from two Mandalorian culture articles published in Star Wars Insider #84 (“Guide to the Grand Army of the Republic”) and #86 (“The Mandalorians: People and Culture”)

Grogu remembers the events of Order 66, in which a group of Jedi rescues him, which was seen in Chapter 6 of The Book Of Boba Fett. The flashback is now extended with a male Jedi saying to take the youngling to Kelleran. For those of us who have seen the game show Jedi Temple Challenge knows this Jedi to be Kelleran Beq, played by Ahmed Best. His cloak in this episode is a bit different then in the game show and shows a more stylish golden-rimmed accent to it. This looks inspired by The High Republic’s Jedi outfits.

The elevator has the same kind of lights on top as the ones seen on the Death Star.

The clone troopers arrive on BARC speederbikes as seen on Saleucami in Revenge Of The Sith.

Considering that Kelleran Beq arrives at Monument Plaza, it is easy to assume that the train and the train station are also meant to be the same one from last week’s episode.

While previous appearances of Coruscant in Andor and The Mandalorian harkens back to the Prequels, it is especially during this chase that you see the buildings more matching, and even some exactly matching, what you saw in the Prequels. This also includes the landing platform that look a lot like the ones they land on.

Those are Naboo soldiers helping Kelleran. The End Credits lists Juan Javier Cardenas (known from The Walking Dead) as a Senate Guard Captain however. As the ship takes off, you can see that three Naboo soldiers are still alive, but pinned down by the clone troopers.

Kelleran and Grogu escape from Coruscant by using a H-type Nubian yacht. This kind of ship was flown by Padmé in both Attack Of The Clones and The Clone Wars.

Originally his escape from Coruscant had him encounter a Venator-class Star Destroyer in orbit before making the jump to hyperspace.

A giant bird high on top of a mountain with its nest guarding something stolen or valuable to the main characters is something seen often enough in the mythology of the Middle East. These birds are called Rocs and one appears in The Arabian Nights during Sinbad’s second voyage. Then there is also the Donald Duck short called Contrary Condor, in which Donald gets in trouble with a condor in a similar type of situation as the Mandalorians.

As they are at the nest, Paz rushes to help the kid and confirms the theory that we had: the kid is his son. He also calls him by the name that we saw previously only in the end credits of Chapter 17.

Bo loses the shoulder armor that had the Nite Owl insignia and has it replaced with a Mythosaur sigil. This seems a subtle nod on her slowly changing allegiances and priorities.

The raptor falls into the water and gets promptly eaten by the same kind of alligator-creature that attacked in Chapter 17. This also brings to mind what Qui-Gon Jinn said in The Phantom Menace: There is always a bigger fish.
