Well, that’s the hope, but with Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic under the stewardship of Arcanauts Studios, which only launched in early 2025, it could be a couple of years before we hear anything else from the game, and significantly longer before we’re playing it. Gizmodo take a look at the various possibilities, including the eye-opening thought that – According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier – the game might not arrive until 2030 on the PlayStation 7.

The reveal of the spiritual successor to BioWare and Obsidian’s Knights of the Old Republic games was a big shock, even to people aware of online rumors earlier in the week. Fans have a lot of questions, one of which is: “when’s it coming out?” According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the answer to that is quite a while, as he guessed that it’d come out by 2030, and even that is “optimistic.” At worse, he said it could be a long enough wait that it might wind up on the PlayStation 7.

In response to Schreier’s speculation, Hudson told players to “not worry,” saying Fate “will be out before [2030]. I’m not getting any younger!” That’s a big, albeit vague claim to make, but we’ll just have to wait and see when this game comes out and whether it sticks to whatever its first release date is.
