The 137th edition of Blocks magazine lands in UK stores on 6th March 2026 and as always it’s packed with the latest news, reviews and interviews. This month the team look at the new LEGO SMART brick (and the chance to win 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-wing), how to build a mini Gungan Sub from The Phantom Menace, and more in the latest edition of Blocks magazine.

The LEGO Group’s boldest swing in years is launching and Blocks has the definitive guide to the SMART Brick – what it is, how it was developed and what the ambitions are for this tech-infused element. Whether you are excited by SMART Play or think it’s doomed to fail, you can learn all about the underlying thinking and potential capabilities of this new system in Issue 137.

Issue 137 is available to order worldwide as part of a subscription or as a single issue at blocksmag.com and will be in UK stores from March 6.

Blocks subscriptions are better value than ever – a one-year print subscription in the UK is just £64.90, for a saving of £52.10. If you take one out this week, you’ll get a FREE special edition magazine!

If you take out a two-year print subscription, we’ll also throw in Blocks Book of Retro LEGO Sets!

Every month there’s a prize to win for subscribers – and Blocks is giving away Star Wars 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-wing, which includes a SMART Brick! To be in with a chance of winning, take out a subscription before April 2, 2026.

Inside Blocks Issue 137, experts at the LEGO Group reveal how they developed SMART Play, a system that the company intends to be a huge new platform that will give children a level of added interactivity when they build and engage with sets. It debuts in Star Wars, but promises to expand beyond a galaxy far, far away.
For those who prefer their sets on the traditional side, Master Builder Stuart Harris and Model Designer Maria Jędryszek go deep into the development of the new LEGO House exclusive set – 40507 I Love Billund. They share unique insights into the design process, with images showing sketch models and digital iterations of the model.

Sonic the Hedgehog is full of fun sets like 76998 Knuckles and the Master Emerald Shrine, but Blocks the set could be a much more dramatic tribute to the Master Emerald. See how the model can be transformed and take inspiration for your own builds.

Issue 137 includes step by step instructions too though – you can follow the guides to build a mini Ravager Jumpsuit Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy, a mini Gungan Sub from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and a modern take on 6537 Hydro Racer.

Choosing which LEGO sets are right for you is always a tricky process when there so many options, so Reviews covers a wide range of models – 11373 Sauron from The Lord of the Rings, the latest additions to the Speed Champions garage, 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship (better known as the Black Pearl), Architecture 21064 Paris – City of Love and many more.

Blocks is magazine for AFOLs, packed with 116 pages of detailed, deep dive content. This issue also includes the top LEGO creatures, Vic Viper spacecraft MOCs, BIONICLE creator Christian Faber’s next venture and much more.

Blocks is giving away Star Wars 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-wing! To be entered into the prize draw and to get Blocks magazine delivered every month – ahead of the shops – visit www.blocksmag.com and check out the money-saving subscription deals available.

For entry into the prize draw, you must have an active Blocks subscription at 5.00pm UK time on April 2, 2025 (existing subscribers will automatically be entered into the prize draw).
