Sana Starros #5

FAMILY MATTERS

PART FIVE: FACTS OF LIFE

Sana Starros has made her way across the galaxy, pulling heists with Han Solo, getting mixed up with Doctor Aphra, and everything in between. After a bad breakup, Sana decides to chart a new path….

Upon returning to the Starros family homestead, Sana was greeted by her Grammy Thea Starros and cousin Aryssha, who is pregnant with the first children of the next generation of the Starros family! There’s only one complication: The father is Imperial Officer Cerasus Ehllo who is NOT fond of the Starros family and issued an attack on the family’s home to retrieve Aryssha and have the children born into Imperial care. This worked just fine for the Starros family, who are looking to retrieve a data cube of information about their family history that only Aryssha would be able to get close enough to retrieve.

In a ruse set up by Sana’s twin brother, Phel, Grammy and Mevera were captured. Now, the two elder Starros women are in custody aboard the ”King’s Ransom”, just in time for Aryssha to go into labor….

After meeting up with “Auntie” Deva Lompop, Sana was wrangled into helping the bounty hunter free a rancor from a corrupt syndicate leader, but while that was happening, bounty hunter Marl Jibs kidnapped Grammy.

Now Deva, Mevera and Sana have to save Grammy, all the while Aryssha is still stuck with Cerasus and the Imperials, including Sana’s twin brother, Phel….

We kick off this final issue of the Sana Starros mini series as Aryssha continues her labour, Grammy and Mervera close by as we learn she’s co-opted a droid to sabotage the hyperspace systems. We cut to the Imperials trying to fix the issue, but instead they are gassed into unconsciousnesss as Lanitra poses as an Imperial and we learn they’ve rerouted the airflow to the command suite, keeping the Starroses alive and conscious. Suddenly, out of the blue and for no apparent reason Hondo Ohnaka arrives (Sana has no idea who he is, surely making her the only character in the GFFA who doesn’t) instead of Jand and for a fee agrees to assist. At first he agrees to follow her lead, but instead races ahead, taking on two TIE Interceptors and kickstarting a dogfight that ends with Sana using the ion cannon to take down the enemy.

They enter the cruiser, making thier way through corridors only to find the room Lanitra had taken shared air handlers with the command suite and now her adversaries were awake and alert. Deva Lompop says she’ll help Lanitra while Sana should find her family, and so Sana races to her family as Aryssha begins to give birth. Sana tells Mervara and Grammy to help her cousin and races back to Deva and co with a plan – hacking the comm system she plans to filter Chadra-Fan opera through the speakers, and as she does as all hell breaks loose.

As the opera somehow incapacitates the Stormtroopers via their in-helmet speakers, Deva captures Aryssha’s husband Cerasus and this is when Sana’s twin brother Phel gets the drop on her, only for Sana to spin and blast him in the shoulder, and we flashback to when Sana decided to leave and join Bar’leth University as an archaeologist. She reminds him how she made something of herself, how she came to break him out of the academy on Lothal but he refused, and how instead of killing him she’d force him into an escape pod and hope the Empire show him more mercy than he’d shown his own family.

We approach the end of the series as Sana learns Aryssha had twin girls, and tells her family that she shoved Cerasus into the same pod, while we learn that the ship has been cleared of Imperials and Deva has a buyer for the ship, giving the Starros family much needed funds as Sana and Lanitra go to ‘explore’ the ship together. The final page shows Phel and Cerasus in the escape pod, Phel unable to remember his twin coming to free him and Cerasus vowing revenge on the Starros family, and so ends the mini series. Where we’ll see Sana next is unknown; as a supporting character she has her highpoints, but sadly this series has shown she doesn’t have the depth to carry a series on her own.
