Way back on 7th February 1999, the first recognised Star Wars podcast, Jedi Talk aired. Fast forward 22 years to 2021 and the team over at the Star Wars Podcasts and Podcasters Facebook group decided to recognise this landmark with the first ‘Star Wars Podcast Day‘ to celebrate how far the medium has developed over the interveneing years.

Nearly 100 shows joined the celebrations in 2021, and this year 99 shows and networks signed up to be involved, with 60 podcasts releasing episodes on the big day. By uniting under this banner, the strength and diversity of the podcast community was recognised and fans found new shows to enjoy by checking out the hashtags #StarWarsPodcastDay and #SWPD2022.

To help spread the message ever further, Fantha Tracks Radio joined the celebrations with special Star Wars Podcast Day episodes of Making Tracks and Desert Planet Discs that arrived on Monday 7th February.

We were thrilled to be involved and help spread the word of podcasting, and hopefully we snagged a few extra listeners in the process. Star Wars podcasting is growing ever more popular and no matter what your preference for Star Wars content is there is a show out there for you. So why not check out the plethora of shows out there by following the hastags #StarWarsPodcastDay or #SWPD2022 and tell ’em Fantha Tracks sent you!
