Back in my day, when we had a spoonful of gravel for breakfast, we didn’t have proms here in the UK but these days they’re all the rage and I can’t think of a better way of going to a prom than being accompanied by Princess Leia, a Jedi and two stormtroopers.

Check out Star Wars fan Owen Rollason, who was escorted to the prom by these galactic heroes and villains in a treat set up by his family.

The Force was with Star Wars fan Owen Rollason when he turned up to his school prom – escorted by stormtroopers.

His family had secretly arranged for the cast of characters to greet him as he arrived at Barlaston’s Upper House Hotel for the swank event.

The 16-year-old wheelchair user was then whisked up the driveway by two of the galactic soldiers, a Jedi and Princess Leia.

Owen’s classmates and staff from Moorside High, in Werrington , looked on in amazement at his movie star entrance on Friday night.

He said: “I thought ‘this is cool’ when I saw the stormtroopers walking down to me. It felt great.”

The teenager, who has cerebral palsy and needs 24-hour care, has been an inspirational student during his five years at Moorside. Staff say he has been determined to play a full part in school life and has even run a student environmental group.
