Forty years ago today, the world finally got to exhale and head to the cinema to watch what they believed would be the final ever Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi. As part of their promotional duties, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill both appeared on Late Night with David Letterman to discuss Jedi.

Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill guest — separately — on Late Night.

Carrie appears May 30, 1983, to plug “Return [or ‘Revenge’] of the Jedi” while Mark shows up on June 20 to discuss his role as Mozart in the Broadway play “Amadeus.”

Then a challenging “Star Wars” trivia quiz, with the winner, “Susan Boroday” (LN Assistant to the Producer Sandy Gillis) accepting her prize at the show’s end.
