Quantic Dream, the developer behind upcoming video game Star Wars Eclipse, claims that production on the game is “going very, very well.”

The game which was announced in December 2021, was met with a wave of protest from across the fandom with the hashtag #BlackoutStarWarsEclipse trending due to the fandom being aware of a a wide range of legal actions, accusations, and quotes attributed to Quantic Dream and more so its founder David Cage.  Accusations that included quotes attributed to Cage carrying the most horrendous of terms used to describe woman and peoples sexuality, and claims of a toxic workforce affecting employees health.  Accusations denied by Quantic Dream and David Cage, and resulting in legal actions between the firm and various French media outlets.

The studio, which has since been sold but retains Cage as part of its team, wishes to move on from these issues – but no fandom forgets.  Especially when little accountability appears to be taken, explanations given, or cases resolved – at least on a public platform.

Set during the era of the High Republic, whose literature creatives had celebrated inclusivity and diversity in its works, there is little is known about the title beyond the initial cinematic trailer which accompanied the reveal announcement.

Talent involved in The High Republic novels and comics appeared to take a position of silence over the games announcement in order to avoid association with the game project.

Now as reported by BFM TV, via our friends at Star Wars News Net we have this direct quote from the developer.

“It is far behind us. We work with our teams every day. It’s going very, very well. We are focused on game development – that’s the only thing that interests us. We decided to lead the studio in another direction, to really have perfect editorial control over our studio.”

Prior rumours have suggested that development was not going well, and that the developers game engine was struggling to cope with the titles ambitious plans.

So are we at the point where the developer is merely putting out comments to reassure investors?

Or if development is “going well” will Quantic Dream end up seeing a fandom not prepared to purchase one of their products?

No release date is known for the game, suggestions have been made that it could be 2027 or 2028 before it reaches the market.
