Birmingham Mail review The Last Jedi

For the last 2 years I’ve been fortunate enough to write the review for the latest Star Wars releases for my local paper the Lichfield Mercury. For the third year in a row my review has been printed, appearing in today’s print version of the Mercury, and also – a huge bonus for me – in the Birmingham Mail.

The monster success of The Force Awakens in 2015 and the lesser but still substantial haul of the first standalone film Rogue One last December has set the bar high for The Last Jedi. With a number of loose ends left trailing when we last saw our heroes and villains, director Rian Johnson had his work cut out picking up where J.J. Abrams left off.

Thankfully, he manages to pull it off – just.
