Episode 8: Narkina 5

Official summary: The Empire catches up to Cassian, but are as of yet unaware of his identity and past.

Trivia

The recap shows us with the English Closed Captions subtitles that Flob is actually the supervisor who hires Syril Karn at the Bureau of Standards.

Prisoner transfer. Someone named Tuck Hybecks from Galdi transferred to Belsavis. While the character and Galdi are new, Belsavis is a world first introduced in 1995’s novel Children of the Jedi Deris-plata (the fake home planet of Cassian), Narkina 5 and Giermos (another prisoner’s home world) are all new.

One of the Imperials next to Flob is called Corv, as revealed by the end credits, and was played by Noof Ousellam.

Prison has tunqstoid steel floors. Tunqstoid is a heavy metal used to make blast doors from in Fate of the Jedi: Abyss.

Outside the integration room of Syril hangs the same kind of cameras that Luke, Han and Chewbacca shoot down in A New Hope on the Death Star. Only difference is the back of the casing the lenses are in.

On Narkina 5 Cassian meets Kino Loy, the unit manager of the floor he has to work on. Kino Loy is played by Andy Serkis, who is well-known for many roles since Gollum, and he played Supreme Leader Snoke in the Sequel Trilogy.

On Table 5 we have Jemboc (played by Brian Bovell), Xaul (Josef Davies), Taga (Tom Reed), Ulaf (Christopher Fairbank), Ham (Clemens Schick) and Melshi. Melshi was seen as a rebel in Rogue One and went with Cassian to Scarif, where he led a platoon of soldiers for the distraction.

Squigs are the drinks with worm-like creatures added to it. Sagrona and Sagrona Teema are Chandrilan toasting words.

Senator Dhow, previously mentioned in Episode 6: The Eye, makes an appearance. He was played by Hugh Sachs, who is well known for his role in Bridgerton.

Newly mentioned guests at Mothma’s vote rally are Slorda, Teenar (Anil Goutam) and Vyvin (Alice Orr-Ewing). There is also an Abednedo and a woman from the species of Silvasu Fi.

Ingenue (Chelsea Edge) is the woman that Perrin talks to. Ingénue actually means an innocent or unsophisticated young woman, especially in a play or film. The Senator next to her is Zinska (Mensah Bediako).

Mon Mothma joining the senate at 16 and marrying at 15, shows that Chandrila is of a culture much like Naboo, where adulthood comes earlier then what is standard to us.

On Ferrix we see a C-PH patrol speeder bike first seen in Solo.

Vel and Cinta are a couple in love, which was stated before in their databank entry and in the audio description track, but this episode has it in the dialogue, making it more clearer for everybody who had not realized this.

The new headpiece, next to the Wookiee helmet, in Luthen’s gallery looks like Padmé’s refugee headdress but it is not the same, more likely inspired by it.

The Narkina 5 prison’s announcer voice is referred to in the end credits as “Voice of God” and played by Martin Ware.

Segra Milo is a new planet and the current base for Saw and Two Tubes.

Saw mentions Dosh, which is the native language of the Trandoshans, but in this case it is meant to be the vulgar expletive first mentioned in the junior novel Join the Resistance and since then in some comics.

Anto Kreegyr, probing the Imperial power station at Spellhaus, formerly a Separatist. Considering they invaded Saw’s home planet of Onderon, resulting in his sister’s death, it seems that Saw has plenty of bias here in his opinion.

Other rebel cell leaders mentioned are Maya Pei, the Partisan Alliance and the Ghorman Front. Like Anto Kreegyr, they are all new, except for yet again a reference to Ghorman.

At Ferrix, at the torture room, we see a man in white clothing. This is Doctor Gorst, who was played by Joshua James.
