As the Star Wars publishing world continues to grow, so the various corners of the story are further delved into. With the focus on younger readers being the prevalent growth area, bringing in newer readers and informing them of the ins and outs of the galaxy, so books like Be More Vader become more and more common. Which is a very good thing, because this DK release, written by Christian Blauvelt, is super fun.

While this isn’t necessarily a self-help manual, Be More Vader does help a darksider chart their path from accolyte to master via the dark side of the Force. Giving handy hints and tips – for example, don’t feel pressured by other people’s expectations, accompanied by an image of Kylo Ren and a quote from The Last Jedi – it gives readers a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.

While wrapped in a vivid red cover, and in a beautiful Ladybird-sized format, the interior is as black, grey and stark as you might expect a manual designed for the minions of the darkside, Empire or First Order to be. It’s a great design template, custom-made for other releases that would give insights into other points of view.

Released alongside Be More Yoda, this is a very cool addition to the expanded library, and slots in nicely with other DK releases. While usually releasing far larger books, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship. More please DK, more.

Many thanks to DK for the free review copy.
