The Star Wars Cookbook: BB-Ate: Awaken To The Force Of Breakfast And Brunch

Awaken your inner Force with 29 intergalactic breakfast recipes. Fuel up with Hans Soloatmeal, battle hunger with Admiral Ackbars, and so much more!

These easy-to-make, mouthwatering recipes feature characters and scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens as well as from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And photographs featuring Star Wars figurines re-creating epic moments from the films provide an extra helping of humor.

Being a Star Wars fan is hungry work, and author Lara Starr is well aware of this as she delivers her latest Star Wars cookbook after Wookiee Pies, Clone Scones, and Other Galactic Goodies and Ice Sabers.

Timed perfectly to coincide with the release of The Last Jedi, The Star Wars Cookbook: BB-Ate: Awaken To The Force Of Breakfast And Brunch gives us the inside scoop on the best galactic recipes for a grumbling pre-noon stomach.

The first post-Disney era release, it’s understandably heavy on the sequel era characters, and that gives the author plenty of opportunities for some great puns.

For instance, how can you resist (ance) Reysin Bread, Luke Skywaffles or Luggabeast of a Quiche? Sure, some of the ideas are a bit corny (which is kind of fitting for a cookbook), but in an era when the fun is being sucked out of fandom faster than a spaced Rathtarr, why not revel in the ridiculous and cook up some kid (and adult) friendly recipes that fans and foodies alike can enjoy.

The book covers a range of different foods. It kicks off with Snacks and Sides followed by Cereals, Eggs, Waffles, Pancakes and French Toast, Baked Goods, Sandwiches and Wraps, Spreads and Toppings and wrapping it up with Drinks. if you can’t find something that takes your fancy across the 64 pages of the book, then I’d wager you’ve never eaten at Chalmuns Cantina on Tatooine or Zythlies Dropout Parlour in the Sedapard Cluster.

I’m a functional cook, nothing fancy or flash, but having a read through this – complemented by some great photography by San Francisco photographer Matthew Carden – has given me the itch to grab the ingredients and give it a go. Who knows, maybe my wife would fancy a C-3POat Pancake and a glass of Jakku Juice first thing in the morning.

Many thanks to Chronicle Books for the review copy.
