Star Wars: Inquisitors #4

“A MESSAGE FROM THE DARK SIDE”

The FIFTH BROTHER and SEVENTH and NINTH SISTERS have all failed in their attempts to capture the elusive Jedi TENSU RUN.

Now it falls to the GRAND INQUISITOR to make one last attempt to eliminate him….

Our fourth and final issue opens hard, on the world of Zondula as two LAAT/c dropships swoop in, the Jedi meditating as the troopers disembark and the two sides engage, lightsabers ignited and blasters roaring as the Jedi defend and fall as we see the emotionless mask of Darth Vader gazing out of the window of the Devastator. He turns and we see the Grand Inquisitor and his fellow sisters and brothers, Vader making clear that for them, failure is not an option; Tensu Run lives and for them to survive he must die.

We cut to Tensu and Pan Delesec, Tensu sensing that the Inquisitors are close as he bemoans the fact that war is an ever-present part of their lives, and we cut to orbit as the Inquisitors led by the Grand Inquisitor race towards the planet, their focus honed in on destroying Tensu Run above all else. racing from the planet the Jedi vessels engage, and swiftly Pan’s ship is blown apart as outnumbered they return to the surface and wait for the Inquisitors to arrive. Tensu and the remaining Jedi enter the mountain, and as Vader learns that Run still lives we see the Inquisitors move to the base of the mountain only to be faced with hoardes of weaponised droids.

The droids dispatched, the Inquisitors move in and Tensu’s fellow Jedi moves to defend, clashing with the Fifth Brother as Tensu takes on the Seventh Sister and the Grand Inquisitor, holding his own until Vader arrives. Run’s fellow Jedi is killed, and as they discuss their philosophies, Tensu attacks but is Force-shoved outside by Vader, and surrendering to his fate he is beheaded by Vader, ending the legend of Tensu Run.

So, another mini-series ends, and one that didn’t outstay its welcome or complicate canon. Tensu Run, if allowed to live, would have been a threat to the Empire, and so the manner in which he is hunted down and put to the sword by the Inquisorius and Vader both elevates his threat to the Empire and shows how ruthless they can be in hunting down the last vestiges of Jedi influence. We’ve seen the galaxy forget the millennia of Jedi history, their legend fading into myth in a few short decades, and while Run is resigned to his fate, little does he know there would only be a few short years until the work he intended to do would begin. An engaging series that would be well worth purchasing in single issues or collection.
