Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – The Monster of Temple Peak #2
Follow former Jedi turned saber-for-hire monster hunter Ty Yorrick in this adventure-packed High Republic miniseries by Cavan Scott and Rachael Stott!
Ty begins the trek up Temple Peak, but the mountain’s hungry creatures and slippery edges put her rusty Force skills to the test.
Dangerous monsters, cliffs, and battles are second nature for Ty, though.
But dealing with people? Well, that may be the hardest part of her mission..

So what does a former Jedi do when confronted by a giant spider about to attack? She ducks, if she knows what’s good for her, and ducking that is what kicks of the second issue of Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – The Monster of Temple Peak as the creature globs a face full of web at Ty Yorrick, temporarily blinding her and casting her mind back to the days when she was training as she learned to bond with animals, which she tries here, realising there is another presence. As the rock weaver faulters, Ty’s droid KL-03 informs her that the creatures webbing is susceptible to sound and so Ty grabs her sonic cutter, turns it to level 3 and aims it at her face, removing the remains of the webbing. Using the sonic cutter again she blasts the webs off the captured person from last issue. Invisible, the person flees as Ty uses bolas to trip them up, revealing the Segredo she met last issue, hiding behind its natural ability to turn invisible. Named Drewen, he reveals he was following her because she is a Jedi, which again she denies. He wants training, which Ty refuses to do and Drewen leaves, visibly aggitated. Returning to her Lyuna mount they commune and Ty agrees to find Drewen as he heads back down the mountain in the cold ice and snow.
Setting up camp for the night, and watched by the rock weaver, Drewen chatters constantly much to Ty’s annoyance. He tells of the Great Disaster, and how he escaped but his brother perished. It was from his brother that he learned all he knows of the Jedi, and as he quizzes Ty she thinks back again to her training, of powers and skills other than the Jedi and understandings of the dark side from the Yallow cultists she stumbled upon with her fellow Jedi Klias. Inside the temple they uncover traps left by the Yallow and as we switch back to the present she stops as Drewen insists she tell him more, about her history as a monster hunter. Ty is in no mood to tell more stories, and Drewen backs off just as the Lyuna gets spooked and runs as suddenly the young girl from the village attacks, leaping at Ty and grabbing a blaster to fire at her. The girl slips and falls, and Ty uses the Force to catch her as she again thinks back to the past as Klias caught her, a memory that shocks her and we look at an empty sky; the girl is gone.
The next day the sun rises and Drewen is ready to move, expecting Ty to tell him to leave but instead with their Lyuna gone she allows him to remain and carry their supplies as Chapter Two finishes. It’s another intriguing issue as we delve further into Ty’s past and the reasons why she is so keen to forget the Jedi and their teachings, despite Drewen’s obvious eagerness to know more. As usual Cavan Scott brings a tight, mobile tale brought to life by great work from Rachael Stott, who also provides superb cover artwork.
