Johanna Nybelius
Johanna did not grow up with Star Wars, but had to discover it by herself in her teens. She is old enough to remember the first time in school in Sweden that her class got to try something called “internet” and her first search word was “Star Wars”. This early search led her to the discovery of the Star Wars fandom through fansites and discussion forums. The fact is that without all the wonderful fans that Johanna got to know and share the passion with, then she would probably not have stayed as attached to the fandom.
Johanna is mostly celebrates her love of Star Wars through fabric and has been a Star Wars costumer for more than 15 years, doing everything from Endor rebel troopers to Queen Amidala and her handmaidens. Recently she has branched out into Star Wars-inspired regular clothes, jewellery and everyday cosplay. At a convention you are most likely to meet Johanna in costume, or doing a presentation on Star Wars costuming, Star Wars fandom or women and Star Wars. She also prefers going to the smaller panels, rather than staying in queue for the whole night.
Johanna got her first summer job as a guide in a museum when she needed to finance the trip to Star Wars Celebration III while still being a student. 15 years later she works fulltime as a museum educator and heritage interpreter. You never know where your Star Wars interest will lead you….
