The man who created the 501st Legion, inspiring a generations of Star Wars fans to become even closer to the sags they love is travelling to San Sebastián in Spain to celebrate a very special day – Pink Force Day, and joining the one and only Albin Johnson is the very first female Stormtrooper, Samantha Alleyne.
Albin Johnson will visit San Sebastian where he will preside over a big parade and concert in favor of Blood Donors with the presence of special guest Samantha Alleyne, the first female stormtrooper, who along with 300 other members belonging to the Legion 501, Rebel Legion and Mandalorian Mercs from all over Europe will parade along the promenade of La Concha by the sea.
It will be a special weekend in which Darth Vader and his people ‘work’ on behalf of blood donors. “Solidarity will be the engine of the meeting, but all of Donostia and Gipuzkoa will enjoy a unique show, with a parade through La Concha of more than 300 people from all over Europe dressed as characters from the saga, and a unique concert at the Victoria Eugenia, with the Madrid Filarmonía Orchestra, in which a new hymn will be premiered
It promises to be a popular party, but getting here has not been easy. Andoni Serrano and his space hosts have been preparing “a unique event” for some time, but the pandemic has complicated the process. Finally everything is finalized so that that weekend of November 26 and 27 Donostia lives a peaceful and solidarity invasion of Star Wars, led by the North American Albin Johnson, founder of the international solidarity organization 501st Legion and honorary president of the San Sebastian foundation.

The special weekend starts on Friday, November 26 in the afternoon with a concert at the Victoria Eugenia de la Orquesta y Coro Filarmonía de Madrid, conducted by Pascual Osa. “We do not forget that ‘Star Wars’ premiered at the 1977 Film Festival in that same theater,” says Serrano. It is a place full of magic for those of us who are followers of this world, and that concert, full of nods to the saga, will also serve to premiere ‘The Pink Side Of de Force’, composed by Álvaro Iglesias and Alberto González and adapted by the Pascual Osa himself. «It will be a historic moment for world fans of ‘Star Wars’ to premiere it at the Victoria Eugenia Theater and in the presence of Albin Johnson, and Samantha Alleyne who will give his only talk in Spain at the end of the concert.
The most spectacular and popular moment will be on Saturday, November 27, at five in the afternoon, with the great solidarity march of characters from the popular film series. The tour is from the Miramar Palace, which on those days will be the event’s ‘headquarters’, and the City Hall. «We are expecting about 300 characters from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France ,Switzerland, Germany, UK, Holland and Argentina a representation of the people benefited by the donations will also participate in the parade. We do all this with the Association of Blood Donors of Gipuzkoa, which last year had 55 years of history, and we want to make visible some of those who benefit from the solidarity donation, so there will be people from the Association against Cancer, Aspanogi or Alcer, among other entities.
More than 20,000 spectators.
The organizers of the San Sebastian event estimate that the parade will attract some 20,000 spectators. “This is what has happened in other cities, such as Seville or Malaga, which have hosted similar events.” The march will end on the terrace of the Town Hall, “a place where we will pay tribute to all those who have accompanied Blood Donors in their history, symbolized by the oldest and youngest donors.” And for the fans, a unique moment: the participants in the march, dressed in their costumes, will be at the disposal of the citizens to take photos on the terrace of the Town Hall.
