Alan Tudyk on K-2SO and Cassian and how we “missed a big chunk of us getting to know each other”

Wouldn’t it be weirdly sweet if Marvel approached Tony Gilroy to write a comic series detailing the missing major moments of the relationship between Cassian Andor and his former KX-series security droid K-2SO as they form a bond that would help change the galaxy. Speaking onstage at the recent FanExpo Denver convention, Alan Tudyk discussed those moments, missing from the two season show and ones he drew upon to influence his performance.

“I think K-2 has always been committed to Cass. That was my connection with the character from the very beginning… He cares what Cassian says. If he says, ‘You have to stay behind’ or ‘You have to grab the back’ it’s like, ‘Now I actually have to do it.’ And he’s going to.

A lot of the things I had in my mind about Cassian and K-2 are in that blank space that we don’t get to see, and that’s how they get to care about one another. That’s how we thought about it.

The K2’s couldn’t express themselves, but he freed him and allowed him to just be what he wanted to be.”

Of course, the real question is would K-2 and B2 have been buddies like D-0 and BB-8 or bickering sibblings like R2 and 3PO?
