Great news for lovers of hit show Scrubs – which unbelievably premiered 24 years ago back in 2001 and ran for 9 seasons until 2010 – as the show will return to ABC (which as a Disney network most likely means an eventual arrival on Disney Plus), bringing back Star Wars voice actors Zach Braff as JD (Freck in Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Donald Faison as Turk (Hype Fazon in Star Wars Resistance, a Super Tactical Droid in The Clone Wars, a Stormtrooper in the still unbelievably unreleased Star Wars Detours and Robot Chicken Eps 2 and 3).
Bill Lawrence, creator of the original series, executive produces the reboot, which has secured Scrubs alums Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra as showrunners and executive producers. Hobert was a writer, executive producer and consulting producer on Scrubs; Batra was a writer and story editor. Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer also will EP the reboot on behalf of Lawrence’s production company, Doozer.
The new series will follow JD Dorian (Braff) and Christopher Turk (Faison), who scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.
No Star Wars roles for Sarah Chalke yet, but she does play Morty’s Mom Beth and her clone (or is it?) Space Beth in Rick and Morty.
