The bond between master and apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker was initially forged by obligation, a promise Kenobi made to his own dying master Qui-Gon Jinn, but as Anakin matured his relationship with Kenobi  developed into one of brotherhood and kinship.
