After what will be 48 years – from the first issue of the official Star Wars Fan Club magazine in 1978 through to Bantha Tracks, the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine and on issue 23 a change of name to Star Wars Insider –  the official magazine will come to an end with issue 237 in early 2026. StarWars.com announced the news today.

“Insider has been a big part of my Star Wars experience for a very long time, both as a fan and professionally,” editor Christopher Cooper tells StarWars.com. “It’s been an honor to explore the galaxy far, far away with our readers during my eight year tenure. But publishing has changed immeasurably since the Lucasfilm Fan Club magazine, and we live in an increasingly digital age, which sadly means that this chapter in Star Wars Insider’s history is coming to an end.”

“I certainly share Christopher’s sentiments. Having served as editor-in-chief of Insider during the lead up to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in 2004 and 2005, and then to edit the magazine for the past 9 years for Lucasfilm Publishing has been the greatest privilege of my life,” adds senior editor Brett Rector. “To say the magazine occupies a huge place in my heart is an understatement.”

Star Wars Insider issue #237 will be the magazine’s last with Titan. “As we fly off into the twin sunsets, Titan intends to go out in a blaze of glory,” Cooper adds.

I first contributed to Insider in 2006, then regularly since 2011, and I’ve had the genuine pleasure of writing 161 articles across 76 issues (with a few more still to come in issues 236 and 237), which has included taking on the My Star Wars and Red 5 segments, interviewing numerous guests (Anthony Daniels a number of times, Ian McDiarmid for issue 200, the final interview with Peter Mayhew which arrived on the day of his passing, right back to issue 119 in 2010 which used portions of my 2007 interview with Irvin Kershner, and dozens more) To say this will leave a huge hole in my geeky heart would sell it short, but I must say huge thanks to my editors Frank Parisi, Jonathan Wilkins and Chris Cooper for keeping me around for what will be 20 years by the final issue, and thanks Star Wars Insider for being the go-to place for official news for 32 years.
