Forbes have posted their list of the top 250 American innovators, compiling a list that includes within its top 50 such iconic names as Ed Catmull (the co-creator of Pixar) at #43, Steven Spielberg (who needs no introduction whatsoever) at #29 and at number #4, behind only Elon Musk (who isn’t American), Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates is George Lucas, for all the tangible reasons we know so well, and so many intangibles beyond.

#4 George Lucas

One of the founding fathers of the modern blockbuster, Lucas also revolutionized movie merchandising, unleashing a never-ending tsunami of Star Wars action figures and Indiana Jones lunch boxes. Through his special effects house Industrial Light & Magic and THX sound outfit, he sold his tools to other moviemakers.
