The 53rd Saturn Awards this Sunday evening shall be a star-studded affair as a slew of sci-fi and fantasy greats descend on Los Angeles as The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films announce their special honours to be handed out at the ceremony, and one of the recipients is none other than the maker himself, George Lucas who shall be awarded the Dr. Donald A. Reed Founder’s Award, given to individuals who have made significant, pioneering contributions to genre entertainment (and who has done more than George Lucas?)

George Lucas is set to receive the Dr. Donald A. Reed Founder’s Award. Other honorees announced this week include Terry Matalas, who will receive the Robert Forster Artist’s Award presented by Paul Bettany, and Prime Video’s The Boys, which will be honored with the Spotlight Award.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise who recently and famously grabbed a camera to shoot footage for Star Wars Starfighter shall be presenting an award, while The Mandalorian guest star Micheal Biehn and Ahsoka guest star Mark Rolston will be on hand as James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd accept the George Pal Memorial Award, honoring the 40th anniversary of Aliens.

The Saturn Awards previously revealed that Tom Cruise will present the Visionary Award to his longtime Mission: Impossible collaborator, Oscar-winning writer, director, and producer Christopher McQuarrie, while James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd will accept the George Pal Memorial Award honoring the 40th anniversary of Aliens. Guillermo del Toro will also be on hand to present the award to the creative team, with cast members including Carrie Henn, Michael Biehn, Ricco Ross, Jenette Goldstein, Mark Rolston, and Cynthia Scott attending.

Biehn isn’t the only guest star from The Mandalorian to be honoured, as Titus Welliver is also set to recieve an award.

Titus Welliver will receive the Lance Reddick Legacy Award. Created to honor the late Lance Reddick’s “extraordinary spirit,” the award “celebrates performers who serve as true goodwill ambassadors in the industry.” Welliver starred alongside Reddick in Bosch.
