He’s Drax, the big heavy with a heart in the smash-hit Guardians of the Galaxy series, appeared in the second highest ever grossing James Bond adventure Spectre and is a six-time WWE champion and if things had been a bit different he’d have been in Star Wars. Speaking to Flickering Myth, Big Dave revealed that he has auditioned for Star Wars in the past.

“I’ve actually auditioned for a couple of Star Wars and they’ve turned me down. It was always a dream of mine to be in a Star Wars film.”

As candid as ever, Dave made it clear that he’s an original trilogy kind of guy.

“I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of the latest installments. I particularly loved Rogue One. I thought it was a really great film and I love that they went a little bit dark with it. I thought it was really interesting.”

With Guardians 3 now postponed at least a year while the search for a new director begins and new Star Wars projects beginning to proliferate, there’s always the chance that Bautista could make the leap from the Marvel cosmic universe into the Star Wars galaxy.
