An Ultimate Destiny 2 Guide for Novices and Comeback Players

Joining Destiny 2 and its ever-expanding universe so late in the game may seem daunting, but the game’s structure and community are friendlier than ever. Moreover, you can also count on specialized platforms offering Destiny 2 game services, where you can order, for example, Trials of Osiris carry or any other service to achieve success in the game. Anyway, if you want to become a Guardian but don’t know where to start, then read this comprehensive guide. It will explain the basics of Destiny 2 and make it easier for you to master the game.

Classes

At the beginning of the game, you’ll be prompted to create a character and choose a player class, which will determine your role and general playstyle. While Destiny 2’s character-building system allows for some freedom, it’s crucial to determine which class best suits your playstyle.

Each class also has access to three additional subclasses: Solar, Arc, and Void, as well as a novel subclass introduced in Beyond Light called Stasis, which harnesses the power of Darkness. These may be switched and tweaked on the fly because they do not cause permanent changes to the character but rather distinct sets of talents, including regular and ultimate abilities. Furthermore, each subclass appears differently for each class; thus, a Void Titan is not the same as a Void Warlock.

Warlock

Warlocks are basically space wizards, but because everyone in Destiny 2 has access to space magic, they are distinguished by their Light/Darkness powers. These have a greater impact on huge regions and may support and empower other players. While Warlocks should stay away from the action and avoid drawing attention, they have practically unfettered access to weapons, allowing them to battle up close. Their powers may swiftly overwhelm huge groups of foes, increasing a fireteam’s chances of victory, so don’t underestimate them.

Titan

Titans are Destiny 2’s tanks. They are designed for front-line fighting and crowd control. They will always lead the charge and be in the thick of the action. As a result, suggested stat builds for them focus on damage output, life, and defense. The chokier they are, the better. Their skills and ultimates mirror this design style, with huge, splashy strikes and buffs that make them even more durable when things get hot.

Hunter

Hunters, with their rogue-like skills and powers, represent the pinnacle of mobility and accuracy in Destiny 2. If you want to battle as stylishly as possible, go with them. The Hunter playstyle promotes high DPS (damage-per-second) and movement around the battlefield; thus, FPS veterans who enjoy fast-paced action will feel right at home playing as hunters.

Subclasses

Four subclasses for each class can be discovered and opened separately:

  • Arc
  • Solar
  • Stasis
  • Void

If you have Beyond Light, you can open up all three skill trees for each subclass. You can try out different trees based on the case. When you’re a Warlock leading a raid, for example, you can choose to go top-tree blank or Solar for Well of Radiance to protect your group. You can also use the Arc subclass to do Thundercrash on your Titan if you want to do a lot of damage. That damage goes up even more when you pair it with a special Exotic chest piece, making this a great addition to any fire team. As a Hunter, you can also use the Tether ability to get rid of a lot of enemies at once.

Weapon Types

When it comes to weaponry, your character screen showcases three distinct weapon types arranged vertically, indicating their respective impact levels:

  • The initial slot is reserved for your Kinetic weapon, characterized by its absence of any specific energy type.
  • The second slot houses your Energy weapon, capable of dealing bonus damage of various energy types, such as Solar, Arc, and Void.
  • The third slot is dedicated to your Power weapon, distinguishable by its reliance on purple ammo bricks for ammunition.

Weapon categories come in three color variations: Blue, Purple, and Gold. The coveted Exotic (Gold) holds the pinnacle position, though you can only equip one Exotic at a time. Legendaries also boast considerable power and can be further enhanced with the addition of mods. These mods, when applied to your armor, facilitate the acquisition of specific types of ammo, offering an advantage for weapons like Fusion Rifles, Snipers, and Shotguns, which utilize green ammo bricks. It’s worth noting that, while green bricks function similarly to purple ones, the latter remains essential for powering your Power weapon.

What’s the Best Starting Point for Me?

When you start your journey with Destiny 2, New Light assigns you to the Cosmodrome to complete the introductory quest. This is the game’s instructional section, where you’ll learn about Supers, basic fighting, weapon types, and various NPC roles. When you arrive, you will be taken to your first NPC, who will distribute Bounties. These are special tasks with instructions on what players must do to fulfill them. They are excellent for gaining XP and leveling up while also obtaining Pinnacles and Powerfuls.

This will become more sophisticated as you go, but the first part of your adventure will be spent catching up on everything you need to do in-game. After completing the New Light campaign, you’ll proceed to the Tower, where quest markers for significant characters will be located.

Unlocking worlds will be important when you first start off, and it might be a pain in the buttocks, because it relies on your Power Level. As you go through each expansion, new regions will unlock, allowing you to access additional content such as Strikes and Season-specific activities. This takes us to the following question: what is the Power Level?

What Is the Power Level?

Power Levels (PL) are your character’s current level, calculated as an average of the gear levels you’ve equipped. Power Levels are important for determining which items to confront and which to avoid. If you attempt an activity that requires a 1300 Power Level at 1240, you will be crushed, perhaps ruining your Destiny experience.

You’ll also work with something called an Artifact. As you level up, the Artifacts will be useful because they will raise your Power Level from your base level (before the artifact) and let you unlock powerful gear changes. The easiest method to level up your PL is to run three characters of each class and complete all of your Pinnacle and Powerful bounties (which are shown by a gold icon in your Destination and Map tabs). Pinnacles and Powerfuls will boost your Power Level if you haven’t reached the season’s ceiling yet by dropping weapons and gear with a higher PL.
