Gambling Games in Star Wars

Star Wars is a perfect blend of science fiction and nature. Anyone who has not seen the Star Wars movies, would not be able to relate gambling with the franchise. But a true fan would know how much the characters of the Sci-fi gamble. This was proved by the sub-plot of the casino city of Canto Bight in the movie “The Last Jedi“.

Although Star Wars is Science fiction which on the surface is unrelatable to humans without power, George Lucas as a creator, constantly gave us things to relate in the movie. One of these things is gambling. One thing that is common and addicting both on earth and the Galaxy. From Pazaak to Chance cubes, gambling has been a part of Star Wars.

Chance Cubes

Appearing in an ample number of scenes in Star Wars, a chance cube is one of the most popular gambling cubes. A standard cube has three out of six sides painted in one colour and the other in a different colour. From the reference of the famous scenes in Star Wars, it is evident that the colours in the movie were red and blue. There were some more types of chance cubes that had different patterns all over them, but the most famous remains the red and blue ones.

The probability ratio of the chance cube is the same as that of a coin. The result, head or tails, could be either red or blue with a probability of fifty percent and the ratio would be 1:1. The chance cube has appeared in many scenes such as in the old republic, Rite of passage, Jedi twilight, Sphere of influence, and many others. But the most famous and popular one is in the phantom menace. From here we get the famous quote of Watto “We’ll let fate decide”.

Watto and Qui-Gon Jinn use a chance cube with red and blue colours to gamble on the decision of which slave should be released, Anakin Skywalker or his mother Shmi. Blue for the boy (Anakin Skywalker) and red for his mother. Jinn uses his power of telekinesis to influence the cube which will ensure Skywalkers’ freedom to be at stake. There is a theory that Watto has altered the cube by painting five sides with red and keeping only one blue. This is a famous and debated scene from Star Wars.

Dejarik

You may call it holochess or space chess, Dejarik is the most exclusive gambling game available at one of the real CasinoDeps websites and in the galaxy of the Star Wars. It is an interesting game that has been seen multiple times in the Star Wars franchise movies. People believe that the concept of the game is similar to chess. Dejarik was played on a hologram checkerboard, where holomonsters take the place of knights, soldiers, and other elements of chess.

Holomonsters are nothing but a hologram of different monsters and real and mythological creatures like Mantellian Savrip, Grimtaash, the Molator, and many others. The gamble game was first featured on “A New Hope” where Chewbacca played an intense gamble game of Dejarik with R2D2. The Kintan Strider Death Gambit, the Millennium Falcon, and the Shadow Hunter, and several other scenes from the Star Wars feature this gambling game of Chess, Dejarik.

This is a game of strategy building, as in the Kintan Strider Death Gambit strategy was used to eliminate at least one of the holomonsters. This engaging gambling is so intriguing that there are people who are trying to replicate the game Dejarik to be played by Star Wars Fans.

Pazaak

Pazaak is a pretty popular game of cards that is simple and abused for gambling. The objective of the players is to come close to the number twenty. The player with a number closest to twenty or equal to twenty wins the game and three wins contribute to winning a match.

It is an unembellished game on the surface but it is quite complicated as there are multiple types of cards to be considered in the game including the main deck cards that were numbered one to ten, the side deck cards, plus cards, minus cards, plus-minus cards, flip cards, double card, and the tiebreaker card. Pazaak is very addicting, especially when there is a prize for it. Pazaak is an old game of Star Wars. It was first featured in Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel. There are a lot of online versions and video games available on the Internet.
