Star Wars Celebration is the ultimate fan convention that takes place in a new place every year. During the closing ceremony for the Star Wars Celebration in Japan, it was revealed that the exhibition will return to California in 2027, with the event set to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This marks the first time that the celebration has been held there since 2006.
What is the Star Wars Celebration?
The Star Wars Celebration is the ultimate fan convention that offers the chance to attend the event in person, as well as offering numerous live-streamed events. The events are streamed to the official Star Wars YouTube channel, with “Star Wars Celebration LIVE!” being a huge hit with fans.
The event has a lot of commentary as well as celebrity interviews and highlights. While not every panel is livestreamed, special guests and updates on upcoming projects are usually prioritized, with exclusive footage to make sure everyone feels included. As time goes on, we are seeing more and more live content streamed as well.
Megacon is another example of an event that livestreams content to viewers, with fans able to follow the action from the comfort of their living room. Even in gaming, new playthroughs are often streamed live, with panels of developers and experts who talk about the latest features during the premiere. In other verticals like iGaming, live streaming is also becoming the norm.
When you sign up with a live casino, you can access live poker, blackjack, and roulette from either your desktop or mobile phone. All you have to do is join the stream to play, as you’ll be connected to a live dealer in a studio setting.
With so many sectors within the entertainment world adopting live streaming as of late, it is not surprising to see Star Wars Celebration adopt the same approach, and with stars like Hayden Christensen taking part in the live recordings, it’s safe to say that next year could be both bigger and better, especially given the success of the stream this year.
At the event, Hayden Christensen announced that it was, in fact, his birthday, allowing fans to have a more intimate experience with him, as he took a big bite out of a Darth Vader-themed birthday cake, compliments of the event management team.
Why Los Angeles for the Upcoming Event?
Fans of the hit series have speculated that the main reason why the event could be in Los Angeles is because of the upcoming opening of the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.
This is expected to open sometime in 2026, meaning the event being held in 2027 would make perfect sense. The museum was originally intended to open in late 2025, but due to construction work being more complex than anticipated, the project has been delayed. Other people believe that the reason why Los Angeles was chosen is that it could be the perfect year to host a 20th anniversary event, given how the celebration has not been in the area since 2006. Either way, seeing it return once more is certainly big for fans, and a sign that the Star Wars fanbase is growing by the year.
