Stars Wars is a cinematography masterpiece, shot in many breathtaking locations from jungles to volcano systems. Some of the duels or even discussions were filmed in such cool environments so let’s take a look at the 4 coolest locations the Star Wars universe has to offer:
The Mustafar System (Episode I)
The lava planet in Episode I is a visual delight. Initially, Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) was sent to Mustafar to execute the leaders of the trade council, further centralizing the Emperor’s power over the galaxy. Furthermore, it is the location of the iconic duel between Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin jumping across different platforms in one of the most exciting lightsaber battles. The lava at Mustafar is the reason why Darth Vader had to wear the black suit to assist with his breathing. His body was nearly totally burned at the hands of Obi Wan Kenobi, and how he escaped fatal death was nothing short of a miracle. This scene depicted the change from the Jedi, Anakin Skywalker to the Sith and fans’ favorite Darth Vader.
Tatooine (Episode I & IV)
Tatooine is the homeland of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker and has some very exciting scenes such as pod racing. Filmed in the Middle East in the town of the same name called Tataouine, it has traditional Arabic architecture such as the cave-dwelling built by the native Berber people. In Episode I, where we first see the young Anakin compete in the pod racing, the stadium is grand and the event is the talking point of the town. Many shady characters in the films are there such as Sebulba who famously lost the bet to Qui Gon Jinn on the outcome of the pod race.
Pod racing is all about betting, with some making a fortune whilst others losing everything. For Middle Eastern players today, gambling is a grey area, however, it is possible to play online. Unfortunately, you cannot bet on pod racing, but you can play all your favorite casino games like roulette and blackjack with live dealers. Using online gambling portals will advise on live casino bonuses and promotions, provide sound advice on the safety of each casino and give comprehensive reviews, giving you peace of mind.
Hoth (Episode V)
The ice planet at the start of Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, is one of the coolest environments in the whole Star Wars universe. In real life, the location was filmed in Finse, Norway and is a sight of beauty. The planet was a temporary headquarters of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, but the Empire later tracked down the rebels which led to the epic Battle of Hoth.
The exhilarating battle between the Alliance’s X wings led by Luke Sywalker and the Empires All Terrain Armoured (AT-TAs) led by Darth Vader ended in an overwhelming victory for the Empire, really putting the onus on the title of the movie “The Empire Strikes Back”.The battle really was a disaster for the Alliance but they could take solace that most of their main leadership had managed to escape.
Naboo (Episode I)
Home of Queen Amidala and Chancellor Palapatine, Naboo is heavily featured in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Episode II: Attack of the Clones. There are 2 beautiful scenes on the planet. Firstly, the picturesque Lake Country where Padme and Anakin fell in love is very beautiful with dazzling greenery and calming waterfalls.
The other exquisite scene shot in Naboo is that at the Palace. Firstly, the gunfight but secondly the lightsaber battle with the two Jedi: Obi Wan Kenobi and Qui Gon Jinn up against the previously unknown Sith Lord: Darth Maul. An action-packed fighting scene which eventually saw Darth Maul be chopped in half and Qui Gon Jinn meets his death. It gave the audience plenty of twists and turns along the way. The environment for the dual left the audience on the edge of their seats of which some of the choreography — especially by Darth Maul is breathtaking.
