It is no secret that the Star Wars franchise has a following and a fanbase like nothing else in this, or any galaxy. In the 40-plus years since the first Star Wars movies, exhibitions have been taking place all over the world and have given us the opportunity to take a step into the Star Wars universe. Here, we explore some of the very best that you can take a look at for yourself in the months ahead.
Star Wars Identities
Identities is the Star Wars exhibition that comes to you. This stunning traveling exhibition has something for everyone, whether you are a die-hard fan or you are new to the Star Wars universe. As well as telling the story of Luke and Anakin Skywalker’s lives and adventures, you will find an intriguing collection of costumes, props and more. There is also an interactive quest, in which you can place yourself in the middle of the Star Wars action. Over the past couple of years, Star Wars Identities has toured Japan and Australia. Current plans are in a state of flux for obvious reasons, but keep an eye on their website for updates as and when they become available.
Fans Strike Back
Las Vegas has felt the pinch more than most over recent months, with gamblers steering clear of The Strip and instead exploring US and Canadian low deposit online casinos to get their fix of the slots and card games. However, other events have still been taking place at Glitter Gulch, including this long-awaited Star Wars exhibition. Immersion Vegas at the Fashion Show Mall is home to Fans Strike Back. The 10,000 square foot space gives us a glimpse of superfan Daniel Prada’s incredible collection of light sabers, costumes, figurines and more. The highlight is a lovingly recreated replica of the bridge of an Imperial I-class Star Destroyer. If you’ve never been to Vegas, this is the perfect time to check it off your bucket list.
Rancho Obi Wan
Given the wider events going on in the world, not everyone is in a position to jump on a plane right now. But that doesn’t stop you from enjoying a virtual tour of what is officially the largest Star Wars collection in the world. Rancho Obi Wan was awarded the distinction in 2014, and is owned and operated by superfan Steve Sansweet. In 2020, he created a virtual tour, so now you can explore the collection of more than 500,000 articles without having to leave your armchair. The great thing about Steve’s collection is that it is so vast, even he isn’t entirely sure what is there, and the process of cataloging the exhibits is ongoing. Highlights include some of the original Star Wars toys from the 1970s, a real piece of the Millennium Falcon from the movie set and a mouth-watering collection of cabinet and pinball games. You can take the tour by visiting Steve’s website, where you can also become a virtual member.
