Ben Schwartz on finding the voice of BB-8

While we’ve heard from the fathers of the physical onset BB-8 – Jake Lunt Davies, Brian Herring and Neal Scanlan (who will all be onstage at Thank The Maker in Fordingbridge next month), Dave Chapman, Matt Denton, Josh Lee and others in the Creature Shop – not as much is known about the genesis of the voice of our exciteable astromech, and here on an episode of ‘On Film…With Kevin McCarthy’ First Order Stormtrooper Ben Schwartz discusses his work on the droid, heading to the London sets and working with J.J. Abrams in 2014 to bring the voice of the droid to life.

Thank The Maker takes place Sunday 7th December at Fordingbridge Town Hall, delving into the making of The Force Awakens, and (so far) will bring Katy Coleman, Kiran ShahNeal ScanlanOliver SteeplesJake Lunt DaviesBrian HerringMartin Rezard and Lee Towersey to the show, along with very special guest moderator Pablo Hidalgo.
