There was a time when you could be forgiven for thinking Ewan McGregor held little if any affection for his time in the Star Wars galaxy. Back when he was bursting into fits of giggles on the Moulin Rogue red carpet when he learned the title of Episode 2 was Attack of the Clones, or bemoaning the amount of green and bluescreen in the prequels, it felt like he couldn’t wait to leave the saga behind, but step forward a number of years and that is very much not the case. Nowadays he’s discussing the saga regularly while attending conventions around the world, speaking with fondness about his memories of the trilogy and of course his return in 2022’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, and here he chats alongside best bud Charley Boorman while promoting new AppleTV+ series The Long Way Home about his relationship with the saga.

Parade interviewed Ewan McGregor and best friend Charley Boorman about their latest project Long Way Home, which marks the 20th anniversary of their first motorcycle adventure.

It’s been 20 years since ‘Revenge of the Sith’ hit theaters, closing out the Star Wars prequel trilogy that featured McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Since then, the actor has reprised his role as the iconic Jedi Master for Disney+’s ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series, which he says deepened his connection to the franchise.

Here’s a clip of Ewan and Charley as they check their equipment for the journey. You can watch The Long Way Home on AppleTV+ now.
